Program Description: The primary goals of the U8, U10, U12 & U14 (Grades 1 – 8) programs are for children to have fun and learn the rules and key skills of soccer. The season consists of practice sessions and games. Practice sessions will teach the fundamental skills of dribbling, passing, ball control, positioning, defense and shooting. Competition for U8 and above will be against other Lake and Geauga county teams. Spring practices start in early April, weather and gym space permitting.
All teams should expect training and up to two game days per week. Primary game days will be:
- U8 Thursday and/or Saturday
- U10 Wednesday and/or Saturday
- U12 Tuesday and/or Saturday
- U14 Thursday and/or Saturday
- *These days are subject to change based on coach and field availability
WGRC Soccer changed to an academy style training format this fall, as we continue to improve our program and adjust to changes within the game. This will give all of our players and coaches a streamlined and improved training experience.
U8 (Grades 1 & 2): These are co-ed teams that will play other WGRC and Geauga county teams. Teams will have a minimum of one practice and one game per week with practices beginning in April.
U10, U12 & U14 (Grades 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and 7, 8, 9): Play against teams from Lake and Geauga counties. Teams will be either all-boy or all-girl based on registrations. Teams will generally have one practice and one or two games per week.
