2026 DAY CAMP
The Rec Council Day Camp is available for children entering kindergarten through 8th grade and is located adjacent to the West Geauga Middle School. WGRC does not have a residency requirement to attend camp. The campground is 15 wooded acres with a covered pavilion, heated swimming pool, volleyball court, soccer field, basketball courts, gaga ball courts, an arts and crafts pavilion, and playgrounds.
Daily activities include arts and crafts, sports, hiking, swimming under supervision of licensed lifeguards, special guests, and entertainment. Middle School campers also enjoy weekly field trips.
The WGRC Day Camp is registered with the Ohio Department of Human Services as required by the Ohio Revised Code. We maintain a 8-12:1 ratio of children to counselors. If you have questions as to whether or not your child is ready to attend camp, please consult our Camper’s Handbook or email with any questions.

CAMP LIFE
Art

Projects like tie dye, sand art, clay sculptures, and so much more. We have science days where we make great messy concoctions. We also have fun food days, where we cook delicious treats to eat and enjoy. This year, we are focusing on STEM projects as well.
Woods Time

During woods time the kids can build forts, play hide and seek, capture the flag, or just let their imaginations run wild.

Swimming
Under the supervision of licensed lifeguards, kids can be refreshed with a dip in the heated pool.
Sports

The sports program is designed for fun, not just for those that are athletic. Games include, volleyball, kickball, soccer, capture the flag, knockout, basketball and more. Our younger campers enjoy tag, hide and seek, playing with the parachute, duck duck goose (which on a hot day becomes drip drip drop).

Middle School Campers:
The Middle School Camp is a camp within our traditional camp designed especially for children entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The Middle School campers will enjoy their own campsite and covered pavilion adjacent to the traditional camp. Counselors will supervise the children in age-appropriate activities.
Every Thursday, our 6-8th graders take a field trip. Field trips require a signed permission slip. All field trips will cost an additional $20 per camper each week.
Additional Field Trip Details:
Field trips are $20 each, in addition to the regular camp fees, and must be paid when registering the child for those weeks of camp through our online registration system. This year, there will not be a field trip during weeks 1 and 10 of camp. West Geauga School buses will provide transportation and the children will be supervised by camp staff. Field trips are designed to provide campers with age-appropriate activities away from the traditional camp and offer opportunities to learn new skills and enjoy the thrill of adventure.
Parents will need to sign a field trip permission slip for each outing. Details describing that week’s field trip will be communicated by the camp director each week. Safety is our number one priority. The following items will be available on each field trip: roster of staff and children, destination information, field trip plan, first aid supplies, as well as Registration and Medical forms for each child. The children will be instructed prior to the trip (and at the location) of the activities and rules.
Parents may send additional spending money with their middle school child for field trips. Money that is brought on the field trip is the camper’s responsibility, NOT the counselors.
Most of the field trips are structured activities, however, when the children are allowed to be on their own, they will be paired or put in small groups with a counselor. No child will be permitted to participate in an activity alone. The children will be instructed at each field trip site where to meet and scheduled check-in times. Children that do not comply with the rules will spend the day with the adult supervising the trip. Children that consistently do not follow the rules will not be permitted to attend future field trips.
Some field trips take place outside and require dry, warm weather to be successful. If the weather does not cooperate, the field trip will be canceled, and alternate activities planned at the Camp. Field trips are scheduled in advance and cannot be rescheduled.
Field Trip Registration
For all middle school campers choosing the “weekly” or “single day – Thursday” registration options. Registrants will need to ensure that they select the “Extra Fee” to go along with their camp registration. This is the field trip fee associated to each weekly trip we take during the summer. A picture of what the additional fee box looks like is listed below. Please ensure that you select this option for each Thursday instance that you are registering your child for camp. Weeks are labeled by the week number for camp as well as the exact date of the field trip.
